뜯고 부수고 끼우고 자르고 박고 치우고
날이 점점 추워지면서 걱정이 가득했던 터라 속도를 내고 있고 덕분에 연일 이어지는 작업으로 하루하루가 다르다. 을씨년스럽던 바닥을 정리하니 이제야 조금은 형태를 갖춰가는 듯 보여진다. 다음주 시작되는 전기공사로 콘센트는 어디에 위치시킬지 동선은 어떻게 계획될지 요소들을 어떻게 배치할지 복잡하지만 행복한 고민들을 하고 있다. 나는 앞으로 어떤 흥미로운 일을 만들어 가게될까? 상상만으로도 즐거운 오늘.
Tearing, breaking, fitting, cutting, nailing, and clearing.
As the days get colder, I've been working faster and harder with worries weighing on my mind. But thanks to the continuous work, the space is starting to take shape, with even the old and worn-out floor now looking tidier. Next week, the electrical work begins, and I'm already happily pondering where to place the outlets, how to plan the wiring, and where to arrange all the necessary elements. I wonder what exciting things I will create in this space in the future? Just imagining it brings me joy on this happy day.
인터넷으로 주문한 매입등 사이즈가 맞지않아 45개를 모두 반품했다. 화장실에 들어갈 등은 주제넘게 너무 화려하고 커서 교환 보냈다. 내가 고른 조명들이 어우러지지 않는 모습을 보니 속상했다. 마루는 공사일정이 맞지 않아 의미없이 시간을 끌게 되었고 진즉 알아보고 준비하지 못한 나 자신도 싫고 괜히 진이 빠졌다. 새로 등을 사오고 반품을 다시 싸서 보내고 현장분들 간식 챙겨드리고 돌아서니 한 것도 없이 벌써 오후다.
그나마 다행인것은 담을 낮게 깎아내니 드러나는 향나무의 온화한 모습이다. 현장 소장님께 듣자하니 나무의 나이는 120살이란다. 이 집보다 비쌀 거라며 괜히 뿌듯하게 해주셨다. 나는 나무가 처음부터 마음에 쏙 들었지만 오늘 가장 크게 느낀 매력은 무엇보다 기개 높게 뻗은 머리털 같은 잎과 추운 겨울에도 꼿꼿한 자태다. 아주 마음에 든다. 나무가 마치 수호신처럼 나를 지켜줄 것만 같다.
I returned all 45 items I purchased online because the sizes didn't fit. The light fixtures I ordered for the bathroom were too flashy and large, so I sent them back for an exchange. Seeing how the lights I chose didn't go well together was disappointing. The flooring had to be delayed due to construction scheduling, so I ended up wasting time doing nothing. I didn't like myself for not being prepared and getting things done in time, and it made me feel uneasy. After buying new light fixtures and re-packaging the items for return, I brought some snacks for the workers at the site before leaving, but it was already afternoon and I felt like I hadn't accomplished anything.
Fortunately, the gentle and beautiful appearance of the camphor tree that was cut low enough to reveal it caught my attention. When I asked the site manager, he said the tree was 120 years old, and that it would be expensive if it were to be bought somewhere else. His words made me proud. I've always liked the tree, but what I appreciated the most today was its high-reaching branches like hair and its strong and upright figure, even in the cold winter. I really liked it. It felt like the tree would protect me like a guardian.
공사가 끝났다. 누렇고 친근하지만 고풍미가 느껴지는 정겨운 공간이 만들어졌다. 아직 빈 공간이고 조경도 못했고 차차 안을 채워 완성해야 하지만 일단 큰 공사가 끝나서 속이 조금은 후련해졌다.
'할 말은 많지만 하지 않겠다.' 라는 유행어가 머릿속을 스친다. 사실 공사하면서 누가 힘들지 않았을까 모두가 다 겪었던 일을 유난스레 떠들어 봤자 모두에게 가소롭게 느껴질게 뻔하다. 그저 추운 날씨에 공사를 잘 진행 해주신 현장 분들께 깊은 감사의 인사를 드리고 싶다.
옛스러움과 현대적인 미니멀함이 반영된 재생적인 성격의 공간. 앞으로 이곳에서 펼쳐질 다양한 나와 내 사람들이 함께 만들어 갈 글씨당 에피소드가 너무나도 기대되는 밤이다.
The construction is finally finished. A warm and familiar space with a nostalgic charm has been created, although it's still an empty space and we haven't done the landscaping yet. But at least the major construction is done and I feel a bit relieved.
"There's a lot to say, but I won't say it," the common saying comes to mind. In fact, it's pointless to talk about the difficulties we all faced during the construction because it will only make us feel small. I just want to express my deep gratitude to the workers who did a great job even in the cold weather.
The space reflects a blend of vintage and modern minimalism, creating a regenerative environment. I can't wait for the various episodes of Ggulssi-dang to unfold here with me and my loved ones.
